Spent the day in Smoky Mountain National Park and enjoyed it despite the continuous rain. The downpours kept us from any real hiking as we did not bring our rain gear. We drove the park roads and enjoyed the scenery. We came to a very unusual road sign and a bridged switchback.
I am amazed that I never make the effort visit this park to photograph it's beauty as it is only a one day drive from home in St. Louis. I have decided that I will return in April after the trees leaf out to take some photos that are more pleasing.
I was amazed to find no entrance station and no admission fees. Seems that when the state of Tennessee signed over the roads to the NPS about 75 years ago they stipulated that there would never be an admission charge. It has been a long time since I entered a national park without a $10-$25 admission.
Tomorrow I will head to Chattanooga, TN and set up for the Boat and Sport Show where I will be doing the Paddling Gourmet programs. Next week I will be staying outside of the city with a very good friend while I await the start of the Montgomery RV show. After that home to St. Louis for a couple of weeks before heading out to the Indianapolis Boat and Sports Show.
